“Once you have downloaded the PuTTY software it’s a breeze! Plug the device into your laptop and select your file in which to save your session from the PuTTY program. Then you chose either Speedometer or Race Timer by activation of the rear sensor (left or right) and it responds. The cadence of the starting light sequence for the Race Timer takes a little getting used to as you need to activate your start gate immediately after the two lights go out to avoid a long pause. This will effect your race times but not the measured speed. It doesn’t take many runs to get very good accurate starts. Data is automatically loaded to the PuTTY files. Great for performance tuning of die cast race cars. The only thing I can say that I would like to see is a “pause” button to put the unit in a “standby” mode so you don’t have a data panel that is useless in your file that you have to omit. But that’s picking it. This unit is the best thing going for anyone who is racing or tuning die cast race cars. Simply nothing out there like it. Quick shipping when you pay the extra charge [via FedEx] and keeps your item from being thrown into the snail shipping mix where it could be damaged. Ian is very good at answering your questions and providing support. Great to do business with. If your looking for a device that times and records scale and real speed then this is the device for you. Make sure you choose the Race Timer with the datalink output.

Fastest shipping is indeed via FedEx, but this does cost more. To date, all the Race Timers have reached their destinations without damage, even via the normal, but slower, airmail shipping.

Thanks for your suggestion about a pause button for your version, V1.2. After you feedback we added this feature to Version 2 which includes an ability to pause the display of data or the race start, or skip rapidly to begin the next race.

And great to hear from you again in your Instagram post, nearly a year after receiving your Race Timer. Fantastic to hear that you are still finding it useful.

“I’ve just received Race Timer from Cook’s Projects. It’s awesome! It works fine and the special incredible point is not to see so many wires compared to other more expensive timers. My track changes a lot, and with this box, I can run races everywhere. The speed measurement is a very good point. It’s really efficient (to the microsecond !). Small or long downhill, short or long track, with or without curves, no problem you can get the speed of your cars and send it to the computer. Within hours of receiving the Race Timer, I was able to produce an Excel file including the speed of 700 cars! Moreover, Cook’s Projects monitors the shipment from A to Z (in France for me). Awesome job !👍
